Ischia Ponte from the Sea Between History and Nature

The colours of the village, the Bay of Cartaromana, the grottoes

An unusual and very suggestive tour of the Borgo is that by sea. Let a local guide tell you the thrilling story of the noble buildings, watchtowers and churches overlooking the waterfront: pass under the arch of the Aragonese jetty which, since 1400, at the hands of Alfonso V, has connected Insula Major with Insula Minor and reach the Bay of Caratromana overlooked - as well as by the Castle - by the Torre Guevara (or Torre Michelangelo) and the small Chiesa di Sant'Anna, patroness of pregnant women, with its adjoining cemetery that inspired Arnold Böcklin for his most famous painting, "The Island of the Dead".

After passing the Bay, you'll reach the Grotta Verde (the Green Grotto) - with a stop for a swim - and the Grotta del Mago (the Wizard Grotto) with their myths, colours and tricks of light.
